Hi Kevin,

You wont be able to weld the sprocket to the rear axle directly. Generally 
sprockets are tempered and quite brittle. You will have to use a sprocket 
mounting. You can weld this steel mounting to the rear axle, and in turn 
bold the sprocket to the carrier/mounting.
