Hi,

You can download off-road karts from:

The size of tubing recommended in them plans is 25mm (or 1 inch) diameter. 
If you liked, you could increase this to diameter 30mm tubing to make it 
extra strong. The above plans don't have suspension either, so you will 
need some big tires and perhaps let some air out of them. This will give 
for a better ride, and it will help absorb some of the shocks when driving 
over rough terrain.
