Hi Ryan,

Thanks for your email. Yes, you are correct, the position of where to
weld the steering column support to the chassis is not on any of the plans.

As the seat is slightly off-set to the left of the kart, the steering
column is coming up at a slight angle to the driver sitting in the
driving seat.
When I was building this kart, what I done, was to leave the steering
column support free, sit into the drivers seat and line up the steering
wheel so it is in the center and in a comfortable position. Then tack
weld the steering support in place.

An approximate location of where the steering column support is welded
to the chassis is 400MM from the right member of the chassis.
( 400mm from the right side on:

and welded to the middle cross member)

I'm not sure if you have started making the kart yet or not, but I
suggest to people to get some chalk and to draw out the kart full size
on the ground before they begin. Then they can place the wheels, engine
and seat into position on the ground. Then you can sit in the seat and
see how everything fits together before you start cutting. Then you can
start cutting the pieces of pipe and lay them on the ground and weld up
then in place.

If you have any other questions, just let us know.
Best of luck,
-steve
